NEW AMSTERDAM
THE BIG APPLE
CONCRETE JUNGLE
GOTHAM
THE city.
I can’t point to exactly where my obsession started, but I think it all blossomed after living in Europe. My dad would take my sister and I on Sunday road-trips around Germany visiting Cathedrals, castles, and old historical ruins. He would quiz us on the characteristics of different architectural styles, “Gothic versus Romanesque?” I then joined an Engineering program within my high school and loved competing with my classmates to build the strongest balsa bridges, the most effective trébuchets, and the most aerodynamic planes. I started a YouTube channel dedicated to building the “tallest” domino towers which inadvertently taught me some basics of designing tall structures. This grew into a passion for skyscrapers and — naturally — NYC. And when my mom was offered a position in “the concrete jungle” in 2010, I told her she HAD to take it. This was my “in” 🙂
